How do I increase the life of my lenses (Sunglasses or Goggles)?Updated 5 months ago
To maintain your lenses in optimal condition, please follow these steps:
1. Avoid Exposure: Never place your lenses where they might fall and get scratched. Keep them away from sweat, sunscreen (especially sprays), makeup, and hairspray, as these can damage lens coatings and cause spots or peeling. Gently rinse the lenses with water to remove any residue and let them air dry.
2. Handle with Care: Do not apply anti-fog liquid to mirror lenses, as it may damage the mirror coating. Avoid placing your goggles or sunglasses near heat sources, such as inside a car. Refrain from using organic solvents (e.g., thinner or alcohol) or adhesives on your eyewear.
3. Prevent Damage: Leaving lenses in contact with water or seawater can result in stains or salt deposits. For mirror lenses, this can cause the mirror coating to peel off.
4. Proper Storage: Store your lenses in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Use the SHRED bag provided to keep them safe from pressure that might deform them. Ensure that no hard objects (e.g., metal, buckles, zippers, or sharp plastic items) come into contact with your eyewear during storage or transport to prevent scratches and deformation.
Specific Care Instructions:
1. CBL 2.0 and Polarized Sunglasses: The polarizing film between the lenses is delicate. Prolonged exposure to water or ultrasonic cleaners can cause water to seep into the film, leading to discoloration and peeling. Wipe off any moisture immediately to maintain the film’s integrity.
2. Photochromic Sunglasses: Photochromic lenses may lose their effectiveness over time. To extend their lifespan, store them in a cool, dark place away from UV rays.
